23rd November 2009ScalziI'm beginning to dislike John Scalzi. He's quite a good writer ((Though I'm less impressed by his novels after reading The Forever War.)) but he emboldens the first phrase of every post on his blog. I don't know why, but I don't like it. So there.

18th October 2009TV NighttimeThere's something that bugs me about TV programs, sci-fi ones in particular. It came to my attention again recently when I was watching an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I think it was Data's Day. When Data takes the bridge, presumably he is relieving the previous officer of his position at the end of his shift, and Data tells his crew to "begin night watch". And then what happens? The lights dim, of course. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation usually follows the night shift, and there too the interior shots of their labs are always very dark. So much question is: why ...

7th September 2009Metal Gear Solid TouchIf I had to be a fanboy of just one thing, I would choose Metal Gear Solid. My reasons may not be entirely logical or particularly easy to explain, but I think Metal Gear Solid is the best game I have ever played ((That's my worst use of hyperbole... (Jeremy Clarkson voice) in the world.)). There is some worthy competition - I love Half-Life 2, it's an excellent game with a compelling storyline, engaging gameplay and it's finished extremely well with great technology; I love Super Mario Brothers - but for me, Metal Gear Solid superior to all other.
