This is the sequel to “Old Man’s War”, which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago.
Again, I listened to this as an audiobook, sometime in December. What I remember most was the wonderful voice of the narrator – deep, mellow, and so relaxing. His voices for all the characters were both varied and convincing, even his rather strange-sounding females. Sadly, I don’t know who this voice actor is, but I’ll definitely try and find some more of his work. It really did add to the book.
The book itself – well, you’d have had to have first read the first book to fully appreciate “The Ghost Brigades”. It’s not a like-for-like comparison – each books focuses on totally different people – however I think that this book might just have the edge. They’re both good, and you should read them. Do it.
There’s one good thing about the shitty exchange rates (from Britain’s view): my Google Adsense payments will now be worth a whole lot more to me! Instead of the $100 getting me £50, it’ll be something more like £75. Nice – all I need now is a bunch of visitors.
I use the WordPress app quite a lot, mainly for bedblogging. It’s free of course, and is suprisingly useable. 81%.

I’m doing my 6th year prelims over the next two weeks, so I am officially on study leave. I was hoping that it was going to turn into a bit of a holiday with a few exams dotted throughout. Sadly, that’s not going to be the case.
Things have been piling up. I have to go in for a morning to discuss my Computing project with my teacher.
I have to go in tomorrow to work on my speaking prelim which I will be doing on the 6th. I find speaking French words hard enough; thinking them up on the spot is absolutely impossible. I’ve been spending the day thinking up sentences which I could use tomorrow, but whether or not they’ll be useful… I don’t know.
I actually thought that I’d be doing my speaking once we were back at school, but no.
Physics is going to be a lot of work. We only just finished the unit this week, and we had to really rush it, so nothing has really sunk in yet.
My other French exams need a lot of prep too.
Maths, however, will be my relief. It’s funny; the subject I’m most interested in is the one I get to spend the least time on. It will be good when that changes.
Right. Enough of this blogging nonsense – I have French to be doing!
P.S. 11 Months until Christmas
Die Hard is one of those classic films which everyone’s seem, but I haven’t. Well, now I have – I watched it with my brother this evening. It’s your typical action film really, nothing special. I’m a big fan of Jerry Jackson, and he says that the films that Bruce Willis is in are shit, so I don’t really have a choice in the matter. However, there were good points, I liked Alan Rickman (never seen him so skinny), and the guns were pretty cool.
I’ll probably give Die Hard 2 a go next.
