I Love it When This Happens

A few days ago I wrote about fractals.

Yesterday I listened to an audiobook by David Foster Wallace ((I’ll write about him sometime.)).

Yesterday evening, I decided to do some more research about fractals. I scrolled down to the bottom of Wikipedia’s page on fractals – I hadn’t scrolled that far the other day – and who would happen to be mentioned right there? Yep, David Foster Wallace.

In a 1996 interview David Foster Wallace admitted that the structure of his novel Infinite Jest was inspired by fractals, specifically the Sierpinski triangle.

I know that it’s sheer coincidence, but I love how things that you initially think are unrelated often do turn out to be linked. It’s cool.
